GitLab 19.5, released on 15 October, moves its MCP server to general availability, so tools such as Claude Code and Cursor can reach GitLab and start or monitor its own agents. Administrators choose which toolsets are exposed, which limits the context they use, and MCP rate limits apply on GitLab.com. Externally connected agents can now be recorded in the governance dashboard, with sessions showing user, agent, project and timing, and audit events can be streamed to a SIEM. The Duo CLI also gains an optional auto mode that skips per-action approval, which is off by default and cannot override tools marked Always Deny.
