AI governance

The UK government said on 4 November that parts of the EU AI Act will apply in Northern Ireland through the Windsor Framework, and has published guidance on it. As reported, the scope is AI embedded in goods sold there, such as smart speakers, and not AI tools a business uses internally. The guidance sets out roles for manufacturers, importers and distributors. Teams shipping AI-enabled products into Northern Ireland should check their position against it. The report notes this is the government's own reading of the regulation.
