Defra, the UK government department, has made an AI assistant fully live for its officials last week. It answers staff questions about AI use only from the department's own toolkit pages, links the pages it used and checks any quoted rule against the source text, hiding quotes it cannot find. A load test of 20 simultaneous questions got answers in about 4.6 to 5.2 seconds, and a daily cap blocks more than 600 questions. The article gives no usage figures since launch.
