GitHub says agents make busy repositories busier, and has rebuilt Git storage so packs and indexes sit in blob storage and reference updates go through a replicated log service. In internal testing it supported 5,000 concurrent agents sending 7,200 pushes per second to one repository. An earlier single write-ahead log design topped out in the mid-hundreds per second. It is in limited private preview, with a broader rollout planned for early next year.
